IMD (In-Mould-Decoration) Foil

This special foil is used for applications during which the decorative pattern is transferred to the substrate at the same time as the moulding process occurs.
With this technique, it therefore becomes possible to decorate curved surfaces – a feat that is not possible with standard transfer processes.
Using a transfer film which is laid out continuously in the mould, the transfer of the decorative pattern is performed by heat and pressure during the injection moulding process.

This way, it becomes possible mould and to decorate the substrate simultaneously – thus also increasing production efficiency.

Characteristics of IMD (Inmold Decoration) Foil

  • Simultaneous moulding and design transfer process
  • Decoration of curved surfaces that cannot be decorated with standard transfer processes
  • Film is laid out in the mould to be able to transfer the design with heat and pressure during the moulding process.

Usage context of IMD (Inmold Decoration) Foil

  • Household appliances
  • Electronic devices
  • Cosmetics, daily necessities
  • Decoration of curved surfaces
  • increased production efficiency
